Default IPX Routes

Creating an IPX Default Route

10-10
Setting up an IPX default route allows the local router to access
IPX networks for which we have no information. For example, a
local CLAM on an IPX network may connect into a remote site
with an IPX server that in turn can connect into other IPX servers.
The CLAM does not have enough memory to hold all these SAPs,
but all it really needs to know is how to get to the server that does
know them.
To make a default IPX route, create a new route with the network
number set to ffffffe:
box# co ipx new route s/ffffffe/ path
[Save] route/s/ffffffe/path#
where co takes the BCC into config mode (if required), ipx moves
the router to the ipx# object (if necessary), new is the MTD for
the new verb (optional), route moves the BCC into the IPX route
object, s is the MTD for a static router, ffffffe is the network
number and path is the name of the path to which this route is
attached.
The
routing
parameter in the ipx# object must also be set to
restricted-sap:
ipx# routi res
[Save] ipx#
where routi is the MTD for the routing parameter and res is the
MTD for the restricted-sap value.
A SAP Filter
(page
server on the central site (the server into which you want to
connect).
If you don't set up Restricted SAP, then a static SAP (for the
server on the central site) has to be set up
10-20) must also be set up that filters the
(page
10-11).
