Modifying and Creating IPX SAPs

117237-E Rev.00
Service Advertising Protocols (SAPs) are broadcasts made by
network servers advising of the services they have to offer. These
services can include options like print servers, file servers and
web servers.
To list existing SAPs, at the ipx# object prompt, use the ls -l
command:
ipx# ls -l
sap/S/8023/hoffice/91208472/0000
ipx#
Figure 10-2.
To edit or create IPX SAPs, use the following syntax:
[co] ipx [mod|new] sap entry-type/frame-type/name/net/socket
Where co takes the BCC into config mode (if required), ipx
moves the BCC into the ipx# object, mod and new are the modify
and new verbs (optional), sap takes the router into the sap#
object, entry-type is the type of SAP entry (if this is a new SAP
then S is entered here otherwise R is shown for system learned
SAPs), frame-type is the type IPX being used, name is the name
of the service, net is the number of the network advertising the
SAP and socket is the socket or port along which the SAP is
found.
Once a SAP is created or modified, the BCC moves into the SAP
object:
sap/S/8023/central_printer/12345678/0451#
Typing
at the SAP object prompt lists all the SAP parameters.
