*BACKUP LAMPS INOPERATIVE —
TEST

Turn ignition off to the lock position.
CAUTION: Remove the Starter Relay from the PDC. This will prevent the
vehicle from being started in gear.
Install Transmission simulator (Miller tool #8333) and the FWD Adapter Cable
kit.(Miller tool #8333-1).
Ignition on, engine not running.
Press the Reverse Light Test button on the simulator while observing the back-up
lamps.
Do either of the back-up lamps come on?
Yes → Go To 6
→ Go To 7
No

If there are no possible causes remaining, replace the TRS.
View repair options.
Repair

Remove the back-up lamp bulb.
Connect the ground clip of a test light to a known good 12 volt source on the vehicle
such as the positive battery post.
Probe the ground circuit in the Back-up Lamp bulb socket with the other end of the
test light.
Note: The light must illuminate brightly, if it does not light, or lights dimly,
the circuit must be repaired. If there is any doubt, compare the brightness
when testing the circuit, to the brightness when connected directly to the
battery.
Does the light illuminate brightly?
Yes → Go To 8
→ Repair the bad ground circuit to the Back-up Lamp bulb socket.
No

Turn ignition off to the lock position.
Remove the back-up lamp bulb.
Disconnect the transmission TRS connector.
Note: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance of the Back-up lamp supply circuit from the lamp socket to
the TRS connector.
Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Repair the open Back-up lamp supply circuit.
→ Go To 9
No
ACTION
Replace Transmission Range Sensor.
Perform 41TE TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Perform 41TE TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Perform 41TE TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
