Symptom:
P0463-FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT VOLTS TOO HIGH
When Monitored and Set Condition:
P0463-FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT VOLTS TOO HIGH
When Monitored: Ignition on.
Set Condition: The fuel level sensor signal voltage at the PCM goes above 4.5 volts.
FUEL PUMP MODULE WIRING HARNESS INTERMITTENT
WARM UP CYCLE = 0
TEST

With the DRBIII , read DTC's.
Is the Warm-up Cycle counter equal to zero for P0463?
Yes → Refer to the Instrument Cluster category and perform the Fuel
→ Go To 2
No

Note: Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the fuel pump module.
Look for any parts of the wiring harness that may be pinched or rubbed
through.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , monitor the fuel level sensor voltage.
Using the wiring diagrams for harness and connector location, wiggle the Fuel Pump
Module harness and related connectors.
Was there any fuel level sensor voltage change?
Yes → Repair the wiring harness as necessary.
→ Test Complete.

Level Sensor Open symptom.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 2.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 2.
