COMMUNICATION
Symptom:
*NO RESPONSE FROM PCM (PCI BUS)
FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT OPEN
FUSED IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN
PCM GROUND CIRCUIT(S) OPEN
PCM PCI NO RESPONSE
PCM INTERNAL PCI BUS OPEN
PCM PCI BUS CIRCUIT OPEN
TEST

Turn Ignition On.
Note: As soon as one or more module communicates with the DRBIII,
answer the question.
With the DRBIII, Select THEFT ALARM, then select SKIM.
With the DRBIII, Select THEFT ALARM, Then select VTSS.
With the DRBIII, Select ANTI-LOCK BRAKES.
With the DRBIII, Select BODY, Then Select ELECTRO-MECHANICAL CLUSTER
(MIC).
With the DRBIII, Select PASSIVE RESTRAINTS, Then select AIRBAG.
Were you able to establish communication with any of the modules?
Yes → Go To 2
→ Refer to the communication category and perform the PCI Bus
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module harness connector.
Use a 12 volt test light in the following step.
With a 12 V test light connected to ground, probe the Fused B+ circuit in the PCM
harness connector.
Is the test light illuminated and bright?
→ Repair the Fused B+ circuit for an open
No
Yes → Go To 3

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module harness connector(s).
Use a 12 volt test light in the following step.
Connect 12V test light to B(+). Probe the Ground Circuits, one at a time, in the PCM
Connector.
Does the test light illuminate at each Ground circuit?
Yes → Go To 4
→ Repair the ground circuit(s) for an open.
No
POSSIBLE CAUSES
ACTION
Communication Failure symptom.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1.
