P0340-NO CAM SIGNAL AT PCM —
TEST
3 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Camshaft Position Sensor harness connector.
Note: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance of the Sensor Ground circuit at the Camshaft Position Sensor
harness connector to ground.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Go To 4
→ Repair the Sensor Ground circuit for an open. If OK, replace the
No
4 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Camshaft Position Sensor harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Camshaft Position Sensor Signal circuit at the Camshaft
Position Sensor harness connector.
Select a conclusion that best matches your voltage measurement.
Less than 4.5 volts
Between 4.5 and 5.5 volts
Greater than 5.5 volts
5 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Camshaft Position Sensor harness connector.
Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module harness connectors.
Note: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance between the Camshaft Position Sensor signal circuit and
ground.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Repair the Camshaft Position Sensor Signal circuit for a short to
→ Go To 6
No
6 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Camshaft Position Sensor harness connector.
Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module harness connectors.
Note: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance of the Camshaft Position Sensor Signal circuit from the
Camshaft Position Sensor harness connector to the PCM harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Go To 7
→ Repair the Camshaft Position Sensor Signal circuit for an open.
No
ACTION
Powertrain Control Module.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
Go To 5
Replace the Camshaft Position Sensor.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
Repair the CMP signal circuit shorted to voltage.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
ground.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
