DRIVEABILITY - GAS
Symptom:
P0340-NO CAM SIGNAL AT PCM
When Monitored and Set Condition:
P0340-NO CAM SIGNAL AT PCM
When Monitored: During engine cranking, after 32 crank position signals.
Set Condition: No camshaft position sensor signal is present with crank signal.
CMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
8 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT OPEN
8 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
8 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT SHORTED TO CMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT
PCM (8 VOLT SUPPLY)
SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
PROBLEM WITH CMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT
IRREGULAR LAB SCOPE PATTERN OF CMP SIGNAL
WIRING HARNESS INTERMITTENT
STRAY SIGNAL FROM THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR
CMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
CMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
CMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT
POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (CMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT)
TEST

With the DRB, read the Current CMP Count while cranking the engine.
Does the Current CMP Count change while cranking the engine?
→ Go To 2
No
Yes → Go To 13

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Camshaft Position Sensor harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the 8 volt supply circuit at the CMP sensor harness connector.
Is the voltage above 7.5 volts?
Yes → Go To 3
→ Go To 9
No
