COMMUNICATION
Symptom:
*NO RESPONSE FROM PCM (SCI ONLY)
DRBIII AND CABLE
TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE
GROUND CIRCUIT(S) OPEN TO DATA LINK CONNECTOR
NO RESPONSE DISPLAYED FROM DRB (SCI ONLY)
SCI RECEIVE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
SCI RECEIVE CIRCUIT OPEN
SCI TRANSMIT CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND - TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE
SCI TRANSMIT CIRCUIT OPEN
PCM (NO RESPONSE-START)
TEST

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the DRB from the Data Link Connector.
Measure the resistance of each of the ground circuits between the data link connector
and a good ground.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms for both circuits?
Yes → Go To 2
No

With the DRB, attempt to read trouble codes.
Was the ignition on when the NO RESPONSE message was displayed?
Yes → Go To 3
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module harness connector.
Disconnect the DRB from the Data Link Connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the SCI Receive circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Repair the SCI Receive circuit for a short to ground.
No
POSSIBLE CAUSES
ACTION
→ Repair the ground circuit(s) for an open.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1.
→ Turn ignition on to get a response.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1.
→ Go To 4
