DRIVEABILITY - GAS
P0171-1/1 FUEL SYSTEM LEAN —
TEST
14 NOTE: Ensure the voltmeter leads meet the terminals in the connector and
that there is good terminal to wire connection.
NOTE: Ensure the voltmeter leads are connected for positive polarity
Backprobe between the O2 Sensor ground circuit at the O2 Sensor harness connector
and ground.
Start the engine.
Allow the engine to idle.
Is the voltage below 0.10 volt?
Yes → Go To 15
→ Repair the high resistance on the O2 Sensor ground circuit.
No
15 Replace the O2 Sensor in accordance with the Service Information.
Attempt to operate the vehicle within the Freeze Frame parameter that where noted.
It may be necessary to operate the vehicle for more than 2 drive cycles.
NOTE: Monitor the O2 Sensor voltage ensure good O2 voltage activity.
Does the DTC reset?
Yes → Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accor-
→ Test Complete.
No
16 The conditions required to set the DTC are no longer present.
With the DRB read and record the Freeze Frame data and the Fuel System Similar
Conditions Window data.
Utilize the data and try to duplicate the operating conditions at which the DTC was
set. Pay particular attention to the ECT and RPM for added diagnostics.
Note: Refer to any TSB's that may apply to the symptom.
Was a problem found?
Yes → Repair as necessary.
→ Test Complete.
