COMMUNICATION
Symptom:
*BUS +/- SIGNALS OPEN FROM SKIM
SKIM RESPONSE FAILURE
DRB DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH SKIM
SKIM FUSED B(+) OPEN
SKIM FUSED IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN
SKIM GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
PCI BUS OPEN CIRCUIT TO SKIM
TEST

Turn the ignition on.
Using the DRB, attempt to communicate with the SKIM.
Did you communicate with the SKIM?
→ Go To 2
No
Yes → Refer to the wiring diagrams located in the service information to

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the SKIM harness connector.
Measure the voltage of the Fused B+ circuit.
Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
Yes → Go To 3
→ Repair the Fused B+ circuit for an open.
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the SKIM harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit.
Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
Yes → Go To 4
→ Repair the Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit for an open.
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the SKIM harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the ground circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Go To 5
→ Repair the ground circuit for an open.
No
POSSIBLE CAUSES
ACTION
help isolate a possible intermittent open or short.
