DRIVEABILITY - GAS
Symptom:
*CHECKING THE INLET AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR
IAT SENSOR (OUT OF CALIBRATION)
WIRING HARNESS INTERMITTENT
TEST
1
Turn the ignition on.
Note: Do not allow more than 5 minutes delay between the next steps.
With the DRB, read the INLET AIR TEMP DEG value and record the reading.
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect and remove the IAT Sensor.
Using a temperature probe, measure the air temperature inside the IAT Sensor
opening.
Is the recorded IAT temperature value within 10° of the temperature probe reading?
Yes → Go To 2
→ Check the IAT wiring for a high resistance condition. If OK,
No

Turn the ignition off.
Note: Visually inspect the related wiring harness. Look for any chafed,
pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
Note: Visually inspect the related wiring harness connectors. Look for
broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.
Note: Refer to any Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) that may apply.
Perform a wiggle test on the related wiring harnesses with the engine running.
Watch for the Good Trip Counter to change to 0.
Were any problems found?
Yes → Repair wiring harness/connectors as necessary.
→ Test Complete.
No
POSSIBLE CAUSES
ACTION
replace the IAT sensor.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
