*CHECKING OIL PRESSURE SWITCH
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
LOW OIL LEVEL
LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING LAMP BULB
NO PCI BUS MESSAGE FROM CLUSTER
WARNING LAMP DOES NOT GO OUT
ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT OPEN
ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND

TEST
1 CAUTION: Ensure the engine oil level and the engine oil pressure are
within specification before proceeding.
Turn the ignition on.
Using the DRB, check for any PCM DTCs.
Is the P1687 NO CLUSTER BUS MESSAGE trouble code present?
Yes → Refer to symptom P1687 No Cluster Bus Message in the Commu-

2 Turn the ignition on.
Did the Low Oil Pressure Warning Lamp illuminate?
Yes → Go To 3
→ Go To 8
No
3 Start the engine and allow the engine to idle.
Did the Low Oil Pressure Warning Lamp go out?
Yes → The Low Oil Pressure Warning Lamp is operating properly at this

No
4 Turn the ignition off.
Check the engine oil level.
Is the oil level within specifications?
Yes → Go To 5
→ Repair as necessary.
