SPEED CONTROL
P1595-SPEED CONTROL SOLENOID CIRCUITS —
TEST
6 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Speed Control Servo harness connector.
Disconnect PCM harness connectors.
Using a 12-volt Test Light connected to 12-volts, check the Speed Contol Vent
Solenoid Control circuit at the Speed Control Servo connector.
Is the light illuminated and bright?
Yes → Repair the short to ground in the S/C Vent Solenoid Control
→ Go To 7
No
7 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the S/C Servo harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , actuate the Vacuum and the Vent Solenoids.
Using a 12-volt Test Light connected to 12-volts, check the Speed Control Vacuum
and Vent Solenoid Control circuits at the Speed Control Servo connector.
Does the test light illuminate with each solenoid activation?
Yes → Replace the Speed Control Servo.
→ Replace Powertrain Control Module.
No
8 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Brake Lamp Switch harness connector.
Disconnect the Speed Control Servo harness connector.
Connect a jumper wire between the Brake Lamp S/C Power Supply Input circuit and
the Brake Lamp S/C Power Supply Output circuit in the Brake Lamp Switch
connector.
Remove the ASD relay and jumper relay socket cavities for pins 30 and 87.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , actuate the Speed Control Vacuum Solenoid.
Using a 12-volt Test Light connected to ground, check the Brake Lamp Switch
Output circuit at the Speed Control Servo connector.
Is the light illuminated and bright?
Yes → Adjust or replace the Brake Lamp Switch.
→ Go To 9
No
9 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Brake Lamp Switch harness connector.
Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Speed Control Power Supply circuit between the PCM
connector and the Brake Lamp Switch connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Go To 10
→ Repair the S/C Power Supply circuit for an open.
No
ACTION
Circuit.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 4.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 4.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 4.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
