SIP Session Timer
SIP session timers T1, T2 and T4 are SIP transaction layer timers defined in RFC 3261. Timer T1 is an estimate of
the Round Trip Time (RTT) of transactions between a SIP client and SIP server. Timer T2 represents the maximum
retransmit interval for non-INVITE requests and INVITE responses. Timer T4 represents the maximum duration a
message will remain in the network. These session timers are configurable on IP phones.
Procedure
SIP session timer can be configured using the configuration files or locally.
Configuration File
Local
To configure session timer via web user interface:
•
Click on Account-> Advanced.
•
Enter the desired value in the SIP Session Timer T1 (0.5~10s) field.
The default value is 0.5s.

Enter the desired value in the SIP Session Timer T2 (2~40s) field.
The default value is 4s.
•
Enter the desired value in the SIP Session Timer T4 (2.5~60s) field.
