Wireless Security Overview
TKIP with 802.1X
The TKIP with 802.1X security profile uses TKIP as the encryption cipher and
802.1X as the authentication mechanism. In this way, each station uses a
unique master key to derive the encryption between the access point and the
station.
AES with 802.1X
The AES with 802.1X security profile uses AES as the encryption cipher and
802.1X as the authentication mechanism. In this way, each station is assigned
a unique master key to derive the encryption between the access point and
the station, and the encryption keys can be automatically and periodically
changed to further reduce the risk of their discovery.
