ECT Sensor Inspection

Refer to "DTC "C15" (P0115-H/L): ECT Sensor Circuit
Malfunction in Section 1A (Page 1A-45)".
Inspect the ECT sensor in the following procedures:
1) Remove the ECT sensor. Refer to "ECT Sensor
Removal and Installation (Page 1C-2)".
2) Connect the ECT sensor (1) to a circuit tester and
place it in the oil (2) contained in a pan, which is
placed on a stove.
3) Heat the oil to raise its temperature slowly and read
the column thermometer (3) and the ohmmeter.
If the ECT sensor ohmic valve does not change in
the proportion indicated, replace it with a new one.
CAUTION
!
• Take special care when handling the ECT
sensor. It may cause damage if it gets an
excessive sharp impact.
• Do not contact the ECT sensor and the
column thermometer with a pan.

4) Install the ECT sensor. Refer to "ECT Sensor
Removal and Installation (Page 1C-2)".

Engine Electrical Devices:

TO Sensor Removal and Installation

Removal
1) Remove the seat. Refer to "Exterior Parts Removal
and Installation in Section 9D (Page 9D-6)".
2) Move the battery case by removing the bolts and
screws.
3) Disconnect the coupler (1) and remove the TO
sensor (2).

Installation
Install the TO sensor in the reverse order of removal.
Pay attention to the following point:
• When installing the TO sensor, bring the "UPPER"
letters and arrow mark "A" upward.

TO Sensor Inspection

Refer to "DTC "C23" (P1651-H/L): TO Sensor Circuit
Malfunction in Section 1A (Page 1A-67)".

STP Sensor Inspection

Refer to "DTC "C29" (P1654-H/L): Secondary Throttle
Position Sensor (STPS) Circuit Malfunction in Section
1A (Page 1A-77)".
