1. UU is the universal cabinet number (1–64). C is the carrier designation (A, B, C, or D). SS is the
number of the slot where the circuit pack resides (01–10).
The Packet Interface (PKT-INT) MO resides on the TN2312 IP Server Interface
(IPSI) circuit pack and serves as an interface between the server and the packet
bus.
The TN1665 PKT-INT and TN2182 Tone-Clock circuit packs' functions have been
moved to the TN2312 IPSI circuit pack. In addition, the IPSI circuit pack provides
the following functions:
PKT-INT packet-bus interface
Archangel TDM-bus interface
Tone-Clock functionality
Ethernet interface for connectivity to servers
Ethernet interface for connectivity to services laptop PCs
The TN2312 IPSI circuit pack is inserted into an EPN's Tone-Clock slot and
provides an Ethernet interface back to the servers. The PKT-INT interface on the
IPSI is like previous DEFINITY TN1655 PKT-INT boards. However, the IPSI's
PKT-INT does not support DMI Mode-2/-3 data or BX.25 links.
The PKT-INT supports links used for call setup of every port located in an EPN. A
Packet Interface failure:
Obstructs the origination of new calls
Causes the termination of stable calls
connected to/through an EPN's stations and trunks.
In addition to affecting telephone service, a failure of the EPN's Packet Interface
affects service provided by circuit packs that connect to the packet bus. For
example:
