2 Remove and replace the failed drive (see
Array or Expansion Module
It may be necessary to remove a hard drive sled in a non-critical fault
(NCF) status as a preventative action and not as a failed hard drive.
A drive that posts an Impending Drive Failure error (reported by Self-
Monitoring, Analysis, Reporting Technology, or SMART) will NOT turn
on the Drive Service Action LED until the failing threshold is crossed.

To view the drive status via the Command Line Interface:
1 Identify the Tray ID and the Sled ID of the hard drive sled you want
to remove. These IDs are required for the CLI command.
2 Connect to the system node (see
Node
on page 32).
The command prompt displays.
3 Enter the following CLI command at the command prompt:
$ SMcli QarrayX -c "show allDrives summary;"
Example:
Search for impending drive failures on Qarray1:
$ SMcli Qarray1 -c "show allDrives summary;"
The results will indicate any drives with an "Impending Failure
(reported by drive)" status.
Once the drive that needs attention is located, place the drive into a
failed status (see
Failing a Non-Critical Fault (NCF) or Optimal Hard Drive
on page 191).
