Like in Control mode, use Button 2 or 3 to select the Group or Sound level, respectively;
activate or deactivate Button 4 to display the Modules or Properties at this level; and use
Button 5–8 to select the Module slot or Properties you want to record automation for.
5.
While holding the pad, with the Page buttons left of the displays you can select Parameter
pages now, with the Knobs 1–8 under the displays you can edit the parameters for this
step. After releasing the pad, the new values are recorded for this step.
An automation value that is set for a step is valid until the next automation value for the
same parameter is set in the Pattern. Hence, the automation you set will continue to affect
the steps that follow until a new value is set. If you want to automate only one step of the
Pattern, set the parameter of the next step back to its default value.

Step Grid, Pattern Length, and Quantization

Step Grid
The set of all steps in any Pattern is called Step Grid. The Step Grid is the frame where you
create and edit the notes/events of your Pattern. The Step Grid resolution corresponds to the
step size, which directly affects the precision of all Pattern editing actions, including quantiza-
tion. It also affects the step sequencer: increasing the Step Grid resolution (i.e. decreasing the
step size) will make more steps available in your Pattern for placing events. By default step
size is 1/16th. However you may use another step size or disable the Step Grid completely.
1.
To change the Step Grid resolution, hold
play will show you which pad represents which resolution:
