FUEL SYSTEM / FUEL INJECTION

Idle Air Control (IAC)

Air leaks or air restrictions in the IAC air supply or delivery
hoses will not cause a trouble code in the system, but are
the most common cause of idle control problems. Always
FAIL CODE: P0508 / P0509
INDICATES
P0508 - IAC circuit or IAC motor shorted to ground.
P0509 - IAC circuit or IAC motor open or shorted to
battery voltage.
P0519 - IAC position out of range

Connector pin visual inspection.
Continuity - Verify ECM to IAC motor
Verify battery voltage is supplied to

METER TEST
SETTING CONNECTIONS
ECM pin 6 to IAC
OHMS
connector pin 3.
ECM pin 7 to IAC
OHMS
connector pin 1.
ECM pin 8 to IAC
OHMS
connector pin 6.
ECM pin 9 to IAC
OHMS motor harness
connector pin 4.
DMM "+" lead to
Pin 2 or pin 5 of
DCV IAC harness (VT/
PK). DMM "-" lead
to ground.

be sure hoses are connected properly and securely when
idle control problems exist. If an IAC code is present,
perform the following circuit tests.
INSPECT
harness connector.
IAC motor on VT/PK wire
from Engine Relay.
DB / OG
SPECIFICATIONS
Less than 1 Ohm
Less than 1 Ohm
Less than 1 Ohm
Less than 1 Ohm
Re-connect ECM 60 pin connector. Disconnect wire
harness from IAC motor. Turn ignition key and engine kill
switch ON. Check for battery voltage at pin 2 and pin 5
of IAC motor harness connector.
