Note: The corresponding appliance inlet located in the chassis directly above the power supply is the recommend
receptacle when using the power supply in one feed mode. If using the power supply in two-feed mode, plug
the second power cord into the receptacle on the power supply
Note: PDM in the above table stands for Power Distribution Module.
13. Repeat steps 1-12 for installing power supplies in slots 1, 2, and 3, where required.
Powering On an AC-Powered MX960 Router with Normal Capacity Power
Supplies
To power on an AC-powered router:
1. Verify that the power supplies are fully inserted in the chassis other.
2. Verify that each AC power cord is securely inserted into its appliance inlet.
3. Verify that an external management device is connected to one of the Routing Engine ports (AUX,
CONSOLE, or ETHERNET).
4. Turn on the power to the external management device.
5. Switch on the dedicated customer site circuit breakers. Follow the ESD and safety instructions for your
site.
