Connecting the Power Injector IDU Cables

The unit can be placed on a desktop or a shelf. Alternatively, it may be wall-mounted using the kit
supplied with the unit.
CAUTION
Do not install the power injector outdoors. The unit is for indoor installation only.
CAUTION
Install lightning protection at the power injector end of the Ethernet cable, use a lightning arrestor
immediately before the cable enters the building.
NOTE
The
Wi² Extender
802.3af standard. Do not try to power the unit by connecting it directly to a network switch that
provides IEEE 802.3af PoE. Always connect the unit to the included power injector module.
To connect the IDU cables:

Connect the Ethernet cable from the Wi² Extender ODU to the RJ-45 port labeled "Radio" on
the power injector IDU.

Connect a straight-through unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable from a local LAN switch/router
to the RJ-45 port labeled "Ethernet" on the power injector. If you connect to a workstation, use a
crossover cable. Use Category 5E or better UTP cable for 10/100BASE-TX connections.
NOTE
The RJ-45 port on the power injector is an MDI port. If connecting directly to a computer, use a
crossover cable
