Processors are field-replaceable units (FRUs). For more information about FRUs, see
"Illustrated Parts Breakdown" on page 22
For component serviceability, locations, and designations, see
Components" on page
Processors should be removed and replaced only by authorized Oracle Service
Caution -
personnel.
These procedures require that you handle components that are sensitive to
Caution -
electrostatic discharge. This sensitivity can cause the components to fail. To avoid damage,
ensure that you follow antistatic practices as described in
Prevention Measures" on page
Identify and Remove a Faulty Processor
Do not touch the processor socket pins. The processor socket pins are very fragile. A
Caution -
light touch can bend the processor socket pins beyond repair.
Whenever you remove a processor, replace it with another processor and reinstall the

processor heatsink; otherwise, the server might overheat due to improper airflow. See
Processor" on page
Prepare the server for warm service.
