Testing with display (sink) devices
Viewing EDID from a display (882 only)
882 Video Test Instrument User Guide (Rev A.35)
The 882 can emulate a source device in order to test a display device's EDID generation.
The EDID data received from a connected display device can be displayed via image or
HTML report.
For display devices with writable EEPROM, the 882 can also put (write) a new EDID to the
device.
Follow the procedure to view EDID data received from a DDC-compliant VGA, HDMI,
DisplayPort or DVI display connected to the 882. Note that HDMI EDIDs are used in the
examples in this procedure.
Note: This feature is not supported on the 881 generator.
To view EDID data received from a connected display device:
1. Connect the display under test to the 882.
2. Press the Source key and choose a suitable format for the display (for example,
DMT0660).
Alternatively, to select the format using the command line interface, enter the following
commands:
FMTP
/tffs0/Library/Formats // Set format path to 882 memory
FMTL
DMT0660
FMTU
// Load the DMT0660 format
// Activate the DMT0660 format
