Example
The following example configures community access string public to permit administrative
access to SNMP at an administrative station with IP address 192.168.1.20.
console(config)# snmp-server community public su ipaddress
192.168.1.20

snmp-server community-group

Use the snmp-server community-group command in Global Configuration mode to map the
internal security name for SNMP v1 and SNMP v2 security models to the group name. To
remove the specified community string, use the no form of this command.
Syntax
snmp-server community-group
community-string — Community string that acts like a password and permits access to the

SNMP protocol
group-name — Name of a previously defined group. The group defines the objects available

to the community. (Range: 1-30 characters)
• ip-address — Management station IP address. Default is all IP addresses.

The parameter can be used to restrict the access rights of a community string.
When it is specified, the software:
• Generates an internal security-name.
• Maps the internal security-name for SNMPv1 and SNMPv2 security models to the group-
name.
Example
The following example maps a community access string dell_community to group dell_group.
