4. Raise vehicle on hoist ând remove p.opeller shaft âs
outlined in Section 4À.
5. Disconnect speedomet€r cable, €lectrical lead to case
connector and oil cooler pipes.
6. Disconnect shift coûtrol linkage.
7. Support transmission with suitable trânsmissionjack
and remove the foùr (4).€ar transmission support bolts. See
Fie. 7 A-26.
8. Remove the nuts holding the corverter bracket to
Ihe support.
9. Disconnect the exhaust pipe ât the rea. of th€
catalytlc converler,
10. Disconnect exhâust pipe at manifold ancl remove
the exhaust pipe, catâlytic converter and conveter bracket
11. Remove the torque conv€ er under pan.

12. Remove conve er to flexplale bolts. See Figurc 7A-
13. Lower traflsmission until jack is barely supponing
it and remove transmission to engine mounting bolts.
14. Râise transmission to its normal position, support
engine with jack and slide transmission rcarward from
engine and lower it away from vehicle.
NOTICE: Fig.7A-28 shows the shim(s) which are
used at the irânsmission mount on B-Series ONLY, to
conhol the drive line ângles. Whenever removing the
transmission on B-Series, be sure to install the sâme
number of shims, and in the same direction, when
reinstâlling the tmnsmission.
CAUTION: Use convortor holding Tool J.
5384 when lowering transmission or
keep rear of lransmission low€r than
front so nol to losg conven6t.
15. The installation of the transmission is the reverse
of the removal with the following added steps.
a. Before installing the flexplat€ to converter bolts,
make certain that the welded brackets on the converter are
flush with the flexplate ând th€ converter rotates freely by
handin thisposition. Refer to Fig.7À-27 for proper method
of attaching conve(er to nexplat€. This insures proper
converter alrgnment.
b. Àfter instâllâiion of transmission, remove car from
hoist. Check lirkâge for prcp€r adjustm€nt.
