In the event the actual sertings are beyond the
specifications set forth in column 1 or 2 (whichever is
applicable), or whenever for other reâsons the alignment is
being res€t, the recommended specificâtions in column 3 of
ihe âlignm€nt chart shoùld be used.
ALIGNMENT ADJUSTMENTS FOR B.A.F.X
CARS
Caster and Cambel
NOTICE: Before adjusting caster and camber angles,
the front bumper should be râised ând released twice
to allow vehicle to return to its normal height. See
"Trim Heights" in the specifications section.
Caster and camber adjustments are made by meâns of
shims inserted between the upper conrrol ârm shaft and the
fr:lme bracket, shown in Figure 3A-2. Shims may be added,
subtracted or trânsferred to change the readings as folloivsl

Adding an equal number of shims at both front and

Caster and camber can be âdjusted in one operatioû.
Toe-in must be check€d after changing camber or caster.
To âdjust cast€r and camber, looseî the ùpper control
arm shaft to frarne nuts, add or subtract shims as required.

Caster, camber and toe-in specificâtions will be found
in the specjfications section.
A nomal shim pack will leave at least two (2) threads
ofthe bolt exposed beyond the nut. The difference Derween
fronr ând rear shim packs must not exceed .40 inches.
If these requircnents cannor be mer in order to reâch
specifications, check for dâmaged conirol arms and related
parts.
Ah{ays tighten the nut on the thinner shim pack first,
for improved shaft to frame clamping force and torque

Toe-in, the inwârd pointing of both front wh€els, is
checked with the wheels in the straight ahead position ând
the steering wheel set straight ahead. It is the ângle of the
wheel to straight aheÂd. Positive (+) toe-in is when the
front of the wheel points inward toward the center of the
car. Negativ€ (-) toe-in is when the front ofthe wheel points
out. Correct toe-in specifications will be found in the
specifications sectioû.
Toe-in must be âdjusted after caster and cêmber
