1 ME CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENTS
Refer to figure 6C1-20 through 6Cl-22 for the
following adjustments:
. Floêt Level
. Metering Rod
. Fast ldle
. Choke Coil Lever
. Àutomatic Choke
o Choke Rod (Fast Idle Caû)
a Vacuum break.
. Unloâder.
. Idle Speed.
Chok€ Chêcking Procedure
L Remove air cleaner. With engine off, hold throttie
half open. Open and close choke seveml times. Watch
linkage to be certâin all lints are connected and there are
no signs of damage.
2. If choke or linkage binds, sticks, or works sluggishly,
clean with Choke Cleaner X-20-A or equivalent. Use
cleâner as directed on can. Refer to disassemblv instructions
for additional direction if cleâning does not correcl.
3. Visually iûspect carburetor to be certain all vacuum
hoses âre connected. Inspect hoses for cracks, abrasions,
hârdness or other signs of deteriorâtion. Replace or cor€ct
4. Make sure vacuum breâk diaphragm shaft is fùlly
extended when engine is off. If shâft is not fully extended,
replace vacuum breâk ass€mbly. Start engine - vacuum
break diaphragm shaft should fully retract within 3 seconds.
If unit fails to retract, replace vacuum break âssembly.
5. Allow choke to cool so that when throttle is opened
slightly choke blade fully closes.
NOTICE: This check must be perform€d at an ambient
temperature of 60'F 1o 80'F.
6. Stârt engine and determine time for choke blade to
reach fuil open position. (Stafi timer when engine stârts).
7. If the choke blade fails to open fully within 3-112
mjnutes proce€d with steps 8-9-10 below.
8. Check voltage ât the choke healer conn€ction.
