S T E E R I N G C O L U M N S
MANDATORY INSTALLATION SEQUENCE
A.Intermediate shalt to flexible coupling.
1. Position flange ol iniermediate shaft lo lhe coupling
and install lock washers (K) and nuts {L). Tighten nuts
to specified torque,
2. Leave intermediate sha{t in retracted position.
B. Steering column to intermediâte shalt.
1. Lock slsering column in straighi ahead posiiion and
align front wheels in straight ahead position.
2. R€mov€ protective cap from column.
3. Instâllpot loini over steering column lower shâft using
pot joint clâmp ând cross notch on lower shall to aid
positioning, Block toolh spline will insure correct
rotaiion âlignment,
4. Install and hand stârt bolt (M) and nut (N) in pot joint
clamp. Push potjoint against spline stop and seat bolt
(M) in clamp. Tighten nut (N) to specified torque.
SYSTEI\,4 REQU!AEMENTS
1. Pot joint operaiing angle musi not exceed 12'30'.
2. Flexible coupling must not be dislorted beyond
specificâlions. See view A.
3, Sieering column intermediate shafi clearancelo upper
control arm forward bolt to be ,'i5 miô,
4. Potjoinlmustbecorrectlyalignedto l1 se(alionand
securêly fâstened to steering shall.
5. Pot joint clamp nut must show a minimum ol 2 bolt
threads protruding irom it.
6- Lower steering shaft splines must not be visible.

B. Stêering column to intêrmediate shaft.
1. Lock steering column in slraight ahead position and
align lront wheels in straight ahead position-
2, Remove prol€ctive cap from column,
3. Install pol joint over steering colum. lowershaft.
4. Installboll ([/l)and nut(N)in potjoint. Tighien nut (N)lo
sp€cified torque.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
1. Pot joinl operating angle must not exceed 12'30.
2. Flexible coupling must not be disloned beyond
specifications.

Pot joint must be correctly âligned and securely
fastened to steering shaft.
Pot joint nut must show a minimum of 2 bolt threads
protruding from it.
