The Air Injection Reactor (AIR) System consists ol
an âir injection pump (with necessary brackets and drive
âttachmetts), air diverter vâlve, a check vâlve and air
manifold assembly, injection tubes and hose necessàry to
connect diverter valve,
The Air Injection Pump (Fie. 6E-26) with an intesral
filt€r, compresses the air and injects it through the air
manifolds ând tubes into the exhaust system ir the areâ of
the exhaust valves. The fresh air helps burn the unbumed
portion of the exhaust gases in the exhaust system, thus
miniûizing exhâust contaminations.
The diverter valye (Fig. 6E-27) when triggered by a
sharp itrcrease in manifold vacuum, shuts off the injectêd
air to the exhausr port in areas and prevenrs bâckliring
