6C.56 FUEL SYSTEIM
NOTICE: Uss care in removing stâking and
plug to âvoid damâging air horn casting and
ble€d valve.
NOTICET A missing plug indicates the idle air bleed
vâlve seiting has been changed from its original facrory
setting and will require readjushenl on the vehicl€.
b. Using a suilable screwdriver that fully fils the slot
in vâlve. turn bleed valve counterclockwise lo remove from
air horn. Remove and discafd "O" ring seals tron âround
vâlve. (New "O'ring seâlsare required for reassembly ) The
idie air bleed valve is serviced only as a complete assembly

i. Holding dosn on pulp plunget .lem. râise co-ner
of aif horn gâsket ând remove pump plung€r from pump
well.
2. Remove solenoid-metering rod plunger by lifting
slrâishr up (Figure 6C-24).
3. Remov€ rubber s€al from around mlxlure control
solenoid plunger.
4. Remove aif hom gask€t by lifting out of dowel
locâiing pins on float bowl.
5. Remove pùmp return spring from pump well
6. Remove plâsric filler block over floâ! valve.
7. Carefully lift each metering rod out of the guided
metering jet, checknrg to be sure the relurn sprtng rs
removed s irh each meteflng rod. Then remo\ e reru-n spring
by slidins off end of rod (Fisure 6C-2s)
NOTICE: use oxlroms caro when handling
th€se critical pârts to avoid damago to
mol€ring rod ând spring.

8. Remove the mixture conlrol solenoid from the floât
bowl using the following procedure:
a. Remove two screws âttaching solenoid connector to
float bowl (Figure 6C-26).

CALLED FOR (SEE BELOW),
b. Using a suilable tool on upper end ofmixture control
solenoid screw, turn screw counterclockwise and remove
screw from Iioat bowl (Figure 6C-27). Then, ca.efully lift
the mixture control soleDoid ând connector assembly from
the floât bowl.
NOTICE: D0 NOT REMOVE PLUNGER
R E T U B N S P R I N G O R C O N N E C T O R A N D
WIRES FROM THE SOLENOID BODY, THE
MIXTURE CONTROL SOLENOID ANO
CONNECTOR ARE SERVICED ONLY AS A
COMPLETE ASSEMBLY.
c. Remove plastic insert from cavity in floât bowl
benۉth solenoid connecior.
