Reasssmbly of Till Column
B€iore âss€mbling the st€ering column, âpplv â thrn
coât of ljthium grease to all lvear surfaces except lock boit
and lock bolt hole.
l. Install new bearings in beâring housing, if remov€d'
2. Install lock shoe springs, lock shoe and shoe pin in
bearing housing. Us€ approximatelv a 4 6mm ( 180 in ) rod
to lin€ up shoes for pin installâtion
3. Instâtl spring, releâs€ lever and pin in bearing
housi.s. (Again, relieve loâd on releâse lever âs described
in disassembly procedute )
4. Install drive shâft in housing Lighllv tâp sector onto
rhe shaft faf enough to snâp sector in drive shaft groove
5. Instâll lock boll ând engâge with secto. câm surfâce
6. Inslall râck and spring Block tooth on râck to
engâge block tooth on sector- lnstall external tilt release
7. Ihrall lo.k bolt

Tighten to specifications
8. Install shift lever spring i. bowi bv winding up with
pliers ând pushnrg in. Slide bowl into Jackei.
9. Install wave washer and lock plate in plâce work
lock plâte into notchesinJacket by tipping lock plate loward
bowl hub at 12 o'clock position and under jacket opening
Slid€ lock plate into notches in jacket
10. Carefully install shift tube in lower end ofjâcket

CAUTION: Do not push or tap on end o{
shift tube.
ll. On B'serjes and A-Sedes onlv, slip aciuâtor rod
ihrough hoie in support Feed rod between bowl and jacket
12. lnstâll suppori by aligning "V" in support with "V"
notch injacket. Insert screws through support in lock plate-
Tighten screws to specifications
13. Align lower beâring adâpter (or bushing) wilh
notches in i;cket ând pùsh into lower end ofjack€t Shift
tube should pilot in àdapter ivhile this is done lnstall
adapter retainer ard clip.
14. Install centering spheres ând a.ti_lâsh sprlng rn
upper shaft. Install lowef steedng shaft from sâme side of
spheres ihat spring ends protrude
