clamps to any one ofthe four marks made on shâfi in Step
2. Tighten the clamps. See Figure 4A'14. Be sure sumcient
clearânce is maintained so lhat clamp heads do not contact
floor pan cf car when axle is in contact with rebound
bumper in frame.
In order to gain sufÏcienr cleâranc€, it mây be
necessary to position the clamps over the balanc€ weighrs.
4. Run the câr through the speed range to 50-55 MPH,
(81-89 Kmlh). Note amount of unbâlance.
CAUTION: Never run car higher thân 55
M,P.H. (89 Km/h). Also all pêrsonnel
should stay clear ol driveline.
5. Loosen ctamps and rotate clâmp heâds 90 degrees
to the next mark on shaft. Tighten clamps and repeat Step
6. Repeat Step 5 until câr has been run with clamp
heads located at all four marks on shaft.
7. Position clamps at point of n1inimuln unbalance.
Rotat€ the clâmp heads awây from each other 45 degrees.
(One €ach wây from the point of n1inimulrl Lrnbalance).
Run
the car and note ifunbalânce has improved. See Figure 4A"

In some câses it ûay be necessary to use on€ clamp or
possibly three clamps in order to obtain a good balânce.

If one shim is add€d, it will chânge the Transmission
Àngle 1/2" and Differential Angle + l/4'.
The production bolt is a M l0 1.5 x 35mrn. When
installing 2 or more shims, â M 10'1.5 X 50mm bolr must

Hoso Clamp Method
L Plac€ lhe car on a twin post hoist so that th€ rear
of the car is supported on the rear axle housing and rhe rear
wheels are free to rotate. Remove both rear tire ând wheel
assemblies and reinstall wheel lug nuts with flat side next
2. Mârk and number propeller shaft ât four (4) poinrs
90 degrees apart ât rear of shaft just forward of balânce
3. Install two (2) hos€ clamps on rh€ rear propellet
shaft and slide them reârwârd until the clâmps stop at the
nearest bâlânce weight weided to the tube. Align both
