Intuitive Use – Uniformity across the Range of Terminal Devices
The operator interface on all system terminals is standardized and intuitive in
design. All the conventional telephony and switching functions are simple to
operate, without the need for operating instructions.
Using IP Technology
The Ascotel IP Gateway AIP 6400 opens up entirely new dimensions in communi-
cation: Voice communication via the intranet. If a company with several branch
offices already has an IP network (WAN) for its data traffic, Ascotel can use the
existing data infrastructure to transmit telephony traffic (prerequisite: the IP net-
work is voice-compatible). An additional ISDN leased-line network is then super-
fluous. Each Ascotel node is equipped with an IP Gateway and hooked up to the
data network.
CTI Applications -- the Efficient Way to Make Phone Calls
Ascotel offers open computer telephony interfaces based on the Microsoft stand-
ard TAPI 2.1. For single station solutions, first-party CTI interfaces are available
which are implemented using the Pocket Adapter V.24. For multi-station solu-
tions, Ascotel offers third-party CTI interfaces which are implemented via the
Ethernet system interface or via the V.24 interface with Pocket Adapter.
Based on Microsoft Windows, external applications use the Microsoft standard
TAPI and the Ascotel CTI interfaces to control and supervise all PBX system termi-
nals.
In addition to simple applications such as phone dialers and pop-up windows,
other more sophisticated applications such as a server-based call center can also
be implemented. These functions are offered through licensing.
Ascotel ACD – No More Need to Transfer Calls Internally
ACD (Automatic Call Distribution) can serve as a basis for a call center system.
Ascotel provides an internal ACD queue where incoming calls are stored. The dis-
tribution of stored calls to agents is performed by an external ACD server con-
nected to a third-party CTI interface -- an ACD server such as Ascom AGORA, the
professional call center solution from Ascom. These functions are offered through
licensing.
