Functional description
Media Cards use different types of firmware pre-installed, depending on the application being
supported. The Voice Gateway application enables Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) for either
line or trunk applications. When the Voice Gateway application is installed on the Media Card,
the card is called the Voice Gateway Media card. Other examples of applications on a Media
Card include IP Line 3.0 and Integrated Recorded Announcer.
The NTVQ01xx Media Card connects an IP and circuit-switched device. The DSPs perform
media transcoding between IP voice packets and circuit-switched devices. The Media Card
also provides echo cancellation and compression/decompression of voice streams.
