19.4. Read Descriptor Mode (3)

In this mode, a maximum of four bytes of READ BUFFER
descriptor
information
return
the
descriptor
specified by the Buffer ID (see the description of the
Buffer ID in Section 19.3). The Drive will return all
zeros in the READ BUFFER descriptor if there is no
buffer
associated
Buffer
Offset
Allocation Length should be set to four or greater. The
Drive will transfer the lesser of the Allocation Length
or four bytes of READ BUFFER descriptor.

There are two possible values for the Offset Boundary;
0h and FFh. When the Offset Boundary field is zero the
buffer
offset
block can be on any byte boundary.
When the Offset Boundary field is FFh the buffer offset
in
the
READ
BUFFER
applicable and must be 0. (This occurs only when Buffer
Id 2 - Media Statistic is selected.)
The value in the Buffer Capacity field depends on the
Buffer ID:
