an interface and enables IPv6 on the interface. The network portion of the
address is based on prefixes received in IPv6 router advertisement
messages; the host portion in based on the modified EUI-64 form of the
interface identifier (i.e., the router's MAC address). Use the no form to
remove the address generated by this command.

Command Mode
Interface Configuration (VLAN)
Command Usage
• If a link local address has not yet been assigned to this interface, this
command will dynamically generate a global unicast address and a link
local address for the interface. (The link-local address is made with an
address prefix of FE80 and a host portion based the router's MAC
address in modified EUI-64 format.)
• If a duplicate address is detected, a warning message is sent to the
console.
• If the router advertisements have the "other stateful configuration"
flag set, the router will attempt to acquire other non-address
configuration information (such as a default gateway) from a DHCP
for IPv6 server.
