The Y -axis of the 2032 can be calibrated in engineering units, U. Read-outs of Y will
then be in U, U RMS, U

s/Hz.
1.
Set the Calibration Units fields of the MEASUREMENT SETUP for Channels A and
8 as desired. The choices are V /UNIT, V /PA, V /m/s
2
,
V /m/s, V /m, V /N, V /G,
V/PSI, V/IN/s, V/MIL, V/L8F, or UNIT/V.
2.
Set the Calibration fields for Channels A and 8 as appropriate.
3.
Set the Units field of the Y -scaling control fields of the DISPLAY SETUP for read-
out in linear units.
4.
The Y-axis will now be calibrated for read-outs in U for time domain functions, or,
depending on the setting of Units and Function Coordinates fields of the Y -scaling
control fields, U, U RMS, U

U

6.2.3. Calibration of the 2032 with the Charge Amplifier Type 2635 to read in Engineering Units
Calibration of the 2032 with the Charge Amplifier Type 2635 to read in engineering
units is as described in Section 6.2.2. There will be slight variations depending on
whether the input to the 2635 is from an accelerometer or a force transducer.
Calibration with an Accelerometer
The sensitivity of the accelerometer should be entered on the TRANSDUCER SENS.

dials of the 2635, and the UNIT OUT knob should be set to acceleration,
velocity, or displacement, as required. The output sensitivity of the 2635 can then be
calculated from the settings of the mV /UNIT and UNIT OUT knobs on the 2635. For
instance, with the first set to "1 00 mV" and the second set to "0,01 m/s", the output
sensitivity of the 2635 will be 10 V /m/s. The 2032 can then be calibrated by setting the
Calibration field of the MEASUREMENT SETUP of the appropriate channel to the rele-
vant unit, and the Calibration Constant field to the output sensitivity of the 2635.
Calibration with a Force Transducer
Enter the sensitivity of the force transducer in pC/N on the TRANSDUCER SENS.

as if it were an accelerometer, for example, a force transducer with a sensi-
tivity of 4 pC/N would have its sensitivity entered as 4 pC/m/s
2
Set the UNIT OUT knob
to acceleration, and set the mV /UNIT knob as desired. The output sensitivity of the
2635 will then be equal to the setting of the mV /UNIT knob and calibrated in mV /N. Set
the Calibration field of the MEASUREMENT SETUP of the appropriate channel of the
2032 to V /N, and the Calibration Constant field to the mV /UNIT setting of the 2635.
6.2.4. Calibration of the 2032 with the Line-Drive Amplifier Type 2644 to read in Engineering Units
The overall sensitivity of the Line-Drive Amplifier Type 2644 plus the line drive input
section of the 2032 is 1 mV /pC. Hence calibration of the 2032 with the 2644 to read in
engineering units can be obtained by directly translating the charge sensitivity of the
accelerometer in use from pC/m/s
2
to mV /m/s
2
,
(or for a force transducer, from pC/N
to mV /N). For example the output sensitivity of the 2644 when connected to an accel-
erometer having a charge sensitivity of 2,9 pC/m/s
2
would be 2,9 mV /m/s
2
The 2032
can then be calibrated as described in Section 6.2.2.
