8.2.1. Digital Output from the 2032 to the 7400
The 7400 can be used to store data from the 2032 in such a form that it can be read
back to the 2032 at a later date, and the results reconstructed. The exact data stored
by the 7400 will depend on the setup of the 2032, see Section 4.2.6 (and Section 8.2.4).
However, (in total documentation mode), the 7400 will always store sufficient data such
that any function which could be calculated from the original data can also be recreat-
ed from the stored data. In addition, the 7400 will store the MEASUREMENT and DIS-
PLAY SETUP, the CURSOR SETUP, and the Text-string. Note that use of a 7400 modi-
fied with the Clock Option, WH 1238, is recommended with the 2032, since this will
always give an identification of the data when it is read back to the 2032, in the form
of a read-out of the Clock when the data was originally recorded, shown on the 2032
Display. Data from the 2032 can be stored on the 7400 as follows:
1.
Connect the INTERFACE BUS (IEC) connector of the 2032 to the INTERFACE BUS
connector of the 7 400 using Bruel & Kjcer cable AO 0194.
2.
Check that MUL TISWITCH 2 on the rear panel of the 7400 is set to 0, and that the
INTERFACE MODE of the 7400 is set to IEC. Check also that the 2032 Interface
Terminator, (set via the Universal Parameter Selector fields, see Section 12.3.8), is
set to 3.
3.
Set the 7400 up to record data. Refer to the 7400 Instruction Manual for details.
Note that it is important to set the 7400 into its Record mode prior to commanding
a digital output from the 2032, since otherwise an error message on the 2032 will
result.
4.
Press DIGITAL 1/0 "Output". The measured data, MEASUREMENT and DISPLAY
SETUP, CURSOR SETUP, and Text-string corresponding to the displayed results,
(input or stored), will be transfered onto the cassette, as one file. On completion of
the transfer, DIGITAL 1/0 "Stop" will be automatically selected. Alternatively, the
transfer can be stopped before its completion by pressing DIGITAL 1/0 "Stop".
8.2.2. Digital Input from the 7400 to the 2032
110
Data recorded on the 7400 can be re-entered into the 2032 as follows:
1.
Connect the 2032 and the 7 400 as detailed in item 1 of Section 8.2.1, and carry out
the checks detailed in item 2 of the same Section.
2.
Total Documentation files from the 7400 can be read into the input or store buffer
of the 2032, depending on the setting of the MEMORY "Enable". For read-in to the
