Calibration of the Y -axis of the 2032 is controlled both from the MEASUREMENT SET-
UP and the DISPLAY SETUP. The MEASUREMENT SETUP controls the overall calibra-
tion of channels A and 8, via the Calibration and Calibration Units fields, (Fig.6.3), of
the Input control fields of the 2032. The DISPLAY SETUP allows the Y -axis to be cali-
brated via the Y -scaling control fields, (Fig.6.4), in, (where relevant), linear units, root-
mean-square (RMS), power (PWR), power spectral density (PSD), or energy spectral
density (ESD), with linear or logarithmic scaling. Read-outs of Y can, (where relevant),
be made in volts, in user-defined engineering units, or in dB referred to a user-defined
reference. The following sections give some examples.
Calibration of the Y -axis of the 2032 can be made before, during, or after a measure-
ment. Hence, should the 2032 be incorrectly calibrated, it is always possible to correct
the calibration after a measurement has been completed. This applies equally to "Total
Documentation" files entered, for instance, from a Digital Cassette Recorder Type
7400, (see Section 8.2).
