WARNING
If the yellow DBC indicator light appears, the system may have overheated or have mal-
functioned. When the warning light appears even though the DBC system has cooled off,
have the vehicle checked by a professional workshop. Kia recommends to visit an autho-
rized Kia dealer/service partner.
NOTE
僅 The DBC may not deactivate on steep inclines even though the brake or accelerator
pedal is depressed.
僅 The DBC does not operate when:
- The gear is in P (Park).
- The ESC is activated.
Multi-Collision Brake (MCB)
Multi-Collision Brake controls the brake automatically in the event of an accident where
the air bag deploys to reduce the risk of additional accidents that may occur.
System operation
僅 From the time the air bag deploys, Multi-Collision Brake monitors the depression inten-
sity of the brake pedal and accelerator pedal for a short period. The system operates
when the following conditions are met:
- Vehicle speed is under 180 km/h (112 mph) at the time of collision.
- The brake pedal and accelerator pedal are hardly depressed.
僅 When the driver steps on the brake pedal over a certain level while Multi-Collision Brake
is active, the braking power takes priority over automatic braking by Multi-Collision
Brake system. However, if the driver takes his/her foot off the brake pedal, Multi-Colli-
sion Brake system will maintain automatic braking.
Indicator light
Press the DBC button when vehicle speed is under 60 km/h (38 mph). The DBC
system will turn ON and enter the standby mode.
The system does not turn ON if vehicle speed is over 60 km/h (38 mph).
Appeared
In the standby mode, It enters the operating mode when the following conditions
are met.
僅 The road surface should be more than a certain angle of inclination
僅 The accelerator pedal must not be depressed.
僅 The vehicle speed should be within 3~40 km/h (2~25 mph)
Blinks
Within operating vehicle speed 3~40 km/h (2~25 mph), the driver can lower or
raise the vehicle speed by stepping on the brake pedal or accelerator pedal.
In the activated mode, the DBC will temporarily deactivate under the following con-
ditions:
僅 The hill is not steep enough.
僅 The accelerator pedal is depressed.
僅 When the vehicle speed is in the range of 40~60 km/h (25~38 mph)
Appeared
If the above conditions are not met, the DBC will automatically activate again.
The DBC will turn OFF under the following conditions:
僅 The DBC button is pressed again.
僅 When the accelerator pedal is depressed and the vehicle speed exceeds 60 km/
h (38 mph)
