Vehicle driving controls
High-speed or long-term driving with putting the tire chains may cause malfunction or
damage to the four-wheel drive.
僅 If tire chains must be used, use fabric snow chain and install the tire chain after review-
ing the instructions provided with the tire chains.
Active Sound Design (if equipped)
Active Sound Design provides various virtual driving sounds based on the driving mode,
vehicle speed, and accelerator pedal. You can adjust the volume and change the settings
for acceleration pedal response and sound style.
Operation
僅 Select [[Settings → Sound → Active Sound Design]] in the infotainment system
screen.
僅 Any unauthorized replacement of the vehicle's speaker and amplifier may cause Active
Sound Design to malfunction.
NOTE
The infotainment system may change after software updates. For more information, refer
to the user's manual provided in the infotainment system and the quick reference guide.
Stopping the vehicle
In the event of brake failure
僅 Make an emergency stop with the parking brake.
Power-assisted brakes
僅 Apply greater force to the brake pedal.
Brake over accelerator
僅 Apply the brakes steady and firmly. Stop the vehicle safely. Shift to P
(Park). Turn off the vehicle and apply the parking brake. Inspect the
accelerator pedal for any interference.
Disc brakes wear indicator
The front or rear brakes will squeal when the brake pads are worn. Always replace the
front or rear brake pads as pairs.
Parking brake
Check if the brake warning light ( ) illuminates when the vehicle is in the START or ON
position. Be sure the parking brake is fully released and the brake warning light ( ) is off
before driving.
Precautions
WARNING
僅 To reduce the risk of SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH, do not operate the parking brake
while the vehicle is moving except in an emergency situation. It could damage the brake
system and lead to an accident.
僅 Whenever leaving the vehicle or parking, always come to a complete stop and continue
to depress the brake pedal. Make sure the gear is shifted to P (Park) position, then apply
