TIP
僅 If you press the tailgate unlock/open button for longer than a second, the lock will be
released or the tailgate will be opened according to the options of the vehicle.
僅 If any door, hood or tailgate remains open, the hazard warning lights will not operate.
僅 After pressing unlock button, the doors will lock automatically unless you open any door
within 30 seconds.
僅 After pressing the Lock/Unlock button, The hazard warning lights will flash.
僅 To start the vehicle remotely, the smart key should be detected within 10 m (32 ft) dis-
tance from the vehicle, and the remote start button should be pressed within 4 seconds
after the doors are locked.
僅 If no further action for operating/driving the vehicle is taken, the vehicle will be turned
off 10 minutes after starting the vehicle remotely.
僅 The driver can move the vehicle forward or backward using the forward/backward but-
tons (5, 6) on the smart key. For more details of Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA),
refer to "Remote Smart Parking Assist 2(RSPA 2) (if equipped)" on page 7-139.
WARNING
THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS A BUTTON BATTERY
If swallowed, a lithium button battery can cause severe or fatal injuries within 2 hours.
Keep batteries out of reach of children.
If you think batteries may have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body,
seek immediate medical attention.
Immobilizer system
The immobilizer system checks, determines, and verifies the key whenever the vehicle is
in the ON position.
Whenever the EV button is changed to the ON position, the immobilizer system checks
and verifies if the key is valid or not.
If the key is valid, the vehicle will start.
If the key is invalid, the vehicle will not start.
Precautions
WARNING
In order to prevent theft of your vehicle, do not leave spare keys anywhere in your vehicle.
Your immobilizer password is a customer unique password and should be kept confiden-
tial. Do not leave this number anywhere in your vehicle.
CAUTION
僅 Do not put metal accessories near the EV button. Metal accessories may interrupt the
transponder signal and may prevent the vehicle from being started.
僅 The transponder in your EV button is an important part of the immobilizer system. It is
designed to give years of trouble-free service, however you should avoid exposure to
moisture, static electricity and rough handling. immobilizer system malfunction could
occur.
僅 Do not change, alter or adjust the immobilizer system because it could cause the immo-
bilizer system to malfunction. In this case, have the system serviced by a professional
workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
