Connecting the Inlet Capillary
Preparations
Follow these steps
Page 68
1. Connect the inlet of the flow cell:
Connect the capillary from the column to the flow cell. See
Connecting the Inlet Capillary
2. Connect the outlet of the flow cell:
If the detector is the last module in the system flow path,
¨
connect the detector waste line to the flow cell. See
the Detector Waste Line
If you attach other detectors or a mass spectrometer in the flow
¨
path after the flow cell, determine the backpressure first to
ensure that the pressure within the flow cell does not exceed
6 MPa. See
Determining the Pressure inside the Flow Cell
(} page 71).
See
Flow Connections to the Flow Cell
Figure 23: Connecting the inlet capillary from the column compartment
(example)
1. Route the inlet capillary from the column compartment through the
guide hole in the device enclosure. Use the guide hole that is next to
the column compartment.
TIP Always keep the capillary connection between the column
compartment and the flow cell as short as possible to minimize peak
broadening (i.e. peak broadening effects due to extra dispersion
volume).
