Symptom
You have a blank display on the operator panel. Other
LEDs on the operator panel appear to behave normally.
You have a blank display on the operator panel. Other
LEDs on the operator panel are off.
You have an 8-digit error code displayed
The system stops with an 8-digit error code displayed
when booting.
System stops with a 4-digit number displayed that does not begin with 0 or 2.
The system stops with a 4-digit checkpoint.
System stops with a 3-digit number displayed (see below for 888 sequence)
The system stops with a 3-digit error code.

Hardware Management Console (HMC) Problem
Action
1. Ensure that the processor subsystem to operator
panel cable is connected properly.
2. Replace the operator panel assembly, Location:
U0.1-L1. Refer to "Operator Panel" on page 639.
3. Replace the service processor/PCI backplane,
Location: U0.1-P2. Refer to "Service Processor/PCI
Backplane" on page 619.
Go to "MAP 1520: Power" on page 118.
1. Look up the error code in the table in "Checkpoints
and Error Codes Index" on page 245.
2. Look up the service action event (SAE) log. If the
FRU has been changed other than the one in step 1,
look at the most recent one.

If you do not find the error code there, go to the Fast
Path MAP in the Eserver pSeries Diagnostic Information
for Multiple Bus Systems.
Add 101- to the left of the three digits to create an SRN.
Go to Eserver pSeries Diagnostic Information for
Multiple Bus Systems.
If there is a location code displayed under the 3-digit error
code, then look at location to see if it matches failing
component that the SRN pointed to. If they do not match,
perform the action from Diagnostic Information for
Multiple Bus System first. If the problem still exists, then
replace the failing component from that location code.
