5.3.5 Other Components

In a normal operating environment check, clean and treat the components listed below approximately every six

Lamp Fans

A clogged lamp fan impeller or motor can reduce air flow, which can lead to possible overheating and lamp
failure.
1. Remove blower duct to access fans.
2. Vacuum loose dirt from the lamp fan impeller.
3. If necessary, use a brush to remove any dirt.

Replacing Lamp

(P/N: 54-8900-095) whenever the internal lamp door is open and when handling the lamp.
Never apply a twisting or bending force to the quartz lamp body. Use the correct wattage
lamp supplied by Christie. Ensure those within the facility of the projector are also wearing
protective safety clothing. Never attempt to remove the lamp when it is hot. The lamp is
under a great deal of pressure when hot and may explode, causing personal injury or death
and/or property damage. Allow lamp to cool completely.
NOTICE: The lamp does not come installed on CP2000-M/MR projectors (119-001101-02 or higher, 119-
002103-02 or higher)
1. Press Lamp OFF from the CDP. Allow the cooling fans to run for at least 15 minutes to allow the lamp to
sufficiently cool before handling.
2. When the cooling fans stop turn the projector's main switch OFF and unplug. Always power down and
unplug the projector prior to servicing. Allow the lamp to cool before handling.
3. Wearing protective clothing and a face shield, unlock the rear access door. WARNING! DO NOT place
heavy objects on the open rear access door. NOTE: The safety interlock switch on the rear access door
turns lamp power OFF and prevents it from being powered ON when the door is open. The interlock wiring
connects directly to the ballast.
4. Manually turn the two thumbscrews on the internal lamp door counter-clockwise to access the lamp
compartment.
5. Remove the old lamp and inspect the reflector.
a. Using a #3 Phillips™, loosen the nut securing the anode wire (Figure 5-1/C).
b. Loosen the cathode screw (Figure 5-1/D) using the hex key, provided on the rear access nut (Figure 5-
1/E).
5-6
DO NOT bend the impeller blades or loosen the balancing weights.
Lamp replacement must be performed by Christie trained personnel only. 
EXPLOSION HAZARD: Wear authorized Christie approved protective clothing 
Improper installation of the lamp can cause serious damage to the projector.
