Chapter 7 - Fluoro Imaging Modes
The X-ray is generated and emitted in an on-off pattern at a high fre-
quency, which is often used for fluoroscopic imaging that simultane-
ously generates X-ray from multiple planes that intersects each other
to avoid light interferences.
Continuous Fluoroscopy modes ()
The X-ray is generated and emitted continuously.
Manual and automatic modes
Each of the above two modes can be operated either manually (adjustable
loading factors, i.e., kV and mA values) or automatically (loading factors are
controlled by the G-Arm system). Combined with the pulse/continuous
modes, the fluoroscopy modes can be further divided into four:
"Automatic Continuous Fluoroscopy" (p78) ()
"Automatic Pulse Fluoroscopy" (p79) ()
"Manual Continuous Fluoroscopy" (p78) ()
"Manual Pulse Fluoroscopy" (p80)()
Derivative modes
Derived from the above two automatic fluoroscopy modes, two additional
modes are introduced in order to offer more flexibility to fit various clinical
application scenarios, which includes:
"DR Fluoroscopy" (p80) (modifies only Automatic Pulse Fluoroscopy
mode)
"Half Dose Fluoroscopy" (p81) (modifies only Automatic Pulse Fluoros-
copy and Automatic Continuous Fluoroscopy modes)
Normal and Low Dose features
For the automatic pulse fluoroscopy modes, a special derivative named Pen-
etration is offered to produce quality fluoroscopic images for bigger objects
by applying higher dosage. To represent regular automatic pulse fluorosco-
py without the Penetration feature being turned on, another feature called
Resolution is therefore introduced. Now for the automatic pulse modes, you
can choose one of the following:
Normal (applies to automatic pulse fluoroscopy mode)
Low Dose (applies to automatic pulse fluoroscopy mode)
By default, the Resolution mode is selected.
Related Topic: For more information on the Low Dose mode and how it
works, see "Normal & Low Dose Features " (p82).
