c. Remove the matting (see Figure 123).
Figure 123: Removing the Matting (3-Holed Matting Shown)
NOTE: For any servicing that requires lifting the glass heating
element (such as removing or replacing the slides and
temperature limiters), check if thermal tape is on the glass
element and if the matting installed is 3-holed. If so, remove
the thermal tape from the glass element and temperature
limiters as the tape is no longer being used, and also replace
the matting with the new 1-holed matting.
d. Before discarding the to-be-replaced glass element, remove
and retain any temperature limiter that will be reused on the
new glass element.
NOTE: Since thermal tape is not used on a replacement glass
element, remove any thermal tape by hand from any
temperature limiter that you plan to reuse. You should be able
to scratch the tape off of the top of a temperature limiter with a
fingernail and get most of it off. Any residue that isn't raised
enough from a temperature limiter surface to catch with a
fingernail is not enough to worry about. Any object used for
scraping should be used carefully so that the top of the
temperature limiter is not dented. Surface scratches are ok,
but any dents on the top of a temperature limiter will require
replacement.
e. Install the temperature limiters (see Warming Drawer
Temperature Limiter – Removal and Replacement, page 73).

Before installing the new the glass element, first inspect the
matting. If it has 3 holes then it must be replaced with the new
matting that has 1 hole (see Figure 123 and Figure 124).
g. Replace the glass heating element if needed.

Removing the Warming Drawer Slide Assembly

You must remove the warming drawer from the cavity when
servicing the slide assembly.
1. Follow the procedure for Removing the Warming Drawer from the
Cavity, page 66.
2. Perform steps 2–3 of the Warming Drawer Sensor – Removal and
Replacement procedure, page 68.
3. Remove the two screws from each side of the glass heating
element housing that hold the wiring tray (Figure 119, page 70).
4. While securing the glass element assembly with one hand,
position the warming drawer housing standing on its side, and
then detach the wire tray (see Figure 119, page 70).
5. In the wire tray, first label, and then detach all six wire connectors
(four are for the temperature limiters, and two are for the wires to
the element terminals). See Figure 120, page 71.
6. Carefully clip the wire tie on the harness to release the wires. Be
careful not to cut any wires (see Figure 120, page 71).
