Audio Quality Concerns - Diagnosing Problem Type
There are typically two types of voice quality concerns:

Audio Breakup – packet related issues
•
Echo - the result of the trunks used by the PBX.
Audio Breakup
Example: pops, break up, garbled or jitter

If you are experiencing audio breakup and you are using RVP_Direct, refer to page 148.

If you are experiencing audio breakup and you are using RVP_IP, refer to page 150.
Echo
Example: excessive side tone, repeated words

If the answer is yes, go to page 151.
Audio breakup using RVP_Direct
One of the first things to check for is the WAN Statistics that should be checked for both the Remote
Branch EXTender and also the PBXgateway II. It is important that this information is a cumulative total
from the last time the statistics were either reset or the EXTender repowered.
