Connecting to the Management Interface (MI)

Direct Serial Connection

Introduction
The console port provides a direct serial connection for the PBXgateway II
allowing access to all features and functions of the MI and the ability to
configure, monitor and troubleshoot the unit.
A standard RS-232 serial straight-through (DB9, Male) cable is required. Use

this cable to connect the PC's COM Port to the console port on the front of
the unit. (see below)
Note: Cable length should not exceed 50 ft.
Before connecting to the PBXgateway II you must confirm
that the PC's COM port settings match the console port
settings as follows:

Flow Control: XON/XOFF
Note: See "Console Baud" on page 96 for more information
on setting the PBXgateway II baud rate.

Dial-Up Connection

The PBXgateway II has an additional DB9 console port, which enables you to access the MI via an
external modem. Before you use this port, confirm that the PC's COM port settings match the console
port settings shown above.
